Firefly Club Homepage Welcomes You
A huge welcome and many thanks for taking the time to have a look at our website! Firefly has been born out of adversity, founded and led by two people who have both experienced cancer more then once. In 1981 testicular cancer cut short a truly promising cycling career for Andrew Hurst, followed by prostate cancer and radical protatectomy, in 2004 and bladder cancer in 2006 and continued treatment to this present day. A diagnosis of breast cancer in 1997 led to a mastectomy and chemotherapy for Denise Dunn, after a breast reconstruction in 1999 a further diagnosis of breast cancer in 2004 involved a course of radiotherapy. Using these experiences we are determined not only to change the journey for other cancer patients, but to also raise awareness, particularly amongst young people to spot the signs before it advances. Firefly is about life, living it to the full and enjoying every second, whilst raising awareness, meeting new friends and the bringing together of communities, their culture and their arts. A very recent Firefly Club member said, 'Strangers are friends we are yet to meet,' at Firefly events you will always find friends, so come and join us, we cant wait to meet you.
